At last, Christiano Ronaldo Leave Manchester United
Cristiano Ronaldo has played his last game for Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson decided to accept a world-record £80 million offer from Real Madrid for the Portugal winger.
United have given Real permission to talk to Ronaldo and the deal is expected to be completed before the end of the month. Ronaldo’s contract at United runs out in 2012 and Ferguson decided to allow him to leave after the 24-year-old made it clear that his heart was still set on moving to Spain.
United’s website released a statement this morning that read: "Manchester United have received a world-record, unconditional offer of £80 million for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.
"At Cristiano’s request – who has again expressed his desire to leave – and after discussion with the player’s representatives, United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player.
"Matters are expected to be concluded by 30 June. The club will not comment until further notice."
